Cincinnati Historical Restoration Services

historic preservation restoration handrail

For many years, I have involved myself in the preservation and restoration of decades old historical properties, and millwork components, in both commercial and residential properties. There is something about those age old builds, and their many historical attributes that, well, “gets me where I itch”.

Some would rather replace with new because the craftsmanship is just too complex to duplicate. In fact, many feel that the time involved to replicate those aged creations are, “just not worth it, it’s just too costly”, many times these items simply get tossed into the our trash/landfills, to be gone forever, followed by a comment, “you will never find that anywhere; they quit making that years ago”.

Men and women of many years ago painstakingly created those treasures with very old tools, techniques and simple machines, and from many, many hours of painstakingly crafting those beautiful objects.

I utilize means and methods to recreate the building components that were sketched up by hand from ideas and inspirations. We can match any wood species, any look, any finish or any detail; "still looking for that item we can’t reproduce".

I utilize means and methods to recreate the building components that were sketched up by hand from ideas and inspirations. We can match any wood species, any look, any finish or any detail; "still looking for that item we can’t reproduce".

We create woodturnings to produce extremely custom or replicate existing profiles for spindles, balusters, handrails, columns, stair parts, corbels, interior and exterior doors, window sashes, interior baseboards, casing, crown moldings, etc; either it be 1 or 1001 makes no difference. We can match any wood species, any look, any finish or any detail; still looking for that item we can’t reproduce.

I find that when I sand, fuss the details and apply finish to those completed handcrafted replicated items, the feelings of pride and extreme satisfaction flows from that piece directly into me through my hands. The same feeling I can remember at a very young age, while learning the trade, that I would receive from my grandfather; the passing grade of a wink, a smile and a nod of acceptance he used to give to me, while pointing with the stem of his pipe at the labor intensive task at hand, saying……….“that will be around here longer than any of us will; thats for sure”.
